Oculars for visual use
I have tried many different oculars and personally believe that the quality is not necessarily related to the price. My advice to beginners, don’t just buy a wide variety of oculars, most of them won’t be used or of much value. I have found that the limiting factor is seeing – I live in a very rural area and the seeing at best allows me to use upto about 200x magnification. I use for the most part 2 oculars, a 22mm wide field
Nagler which is great for large objects such as nebula, and a 14mm Baader Hyperion which gives me 150x magnification for galaxies and such. At this magnification I can still see detail. I would recommend only a couple of similar oculars plus a good nebula filter, this makes viewing nebulas much better. The Baader Hyperion range offer very good value for money and come in a variety of focal lengths.
