Equipment review : visual astronomy

This was my first telescope and served me for nearly three years both for visual and photographic purposes.  When I first became interested in astronomy, I was advised my Lajos at Telescope-Austria and was shown a wide variety of equipment.  I knew that I wanted to have a scope which could later be used for photography and the 8” Newton f4 seemed a good choice.  The build quality was adequate and good value for money.  The optics too, were not bad.  Visually, I only really got to see the brightest of objects, M31, M81, M82, M42, star clusters and such.
